Adobe's ChatGPT Plugin Gets Hands-On Editing Controls

Alongside OpenAI's DevDay 2026 announcements, Adobe introduced new interactive editing experiences in the Adobe plugin in ChatGPT. You can now select part of an image in the interactive editor, ask ChatGPT to use the Adobe plugin to make changes, and then fine-tune the result with new controls for hue, saturation, and more β€” and your edits stay in context as you move between the interactive editor and the conversation. You can also open a PDF and revise text or highlight passages, then send those edits back to your document.

Bell describes how graphic design was the first subject that made him feel genuinely capable β€” keeping him focused, interested, and stimulating a part of his brain that nothing else could. He writes that "I could finally identify the chronic procrastination loop of delaying tasks until there was just enough time left to pressure me into action."

Open ChatGPT, activate the Adobe plugin, drop in any image, and try one targeted edit (e.g., "shift the background hue to cooler tones") β€” then use the interactive sliders to push it further. Note what the AI gets right vs. what the sliders fix.

TODAY’S THREADEvery story today points at the same truth: **the designer who knows their tools AND knows themselves moves fastest.** Adobe and Figma are removing friction at the interface level. It's Nice That's *Ones to Watch* shows you who's already running. And Andrew Bell's essay reminds you that no tool upgrade matters until you understand the human operating it. Build both kinds of literacy β€” and build them at the same time.
