Figma launched Check Designs, a built-in QA tool that scans your file against your team's design system and flags every mismatch β hard-coded hex values, non-standard text styles, color-contrast failures, and components detached from their source library. It suggests the correct fix in one click, swapping the guilty element for the right design token or an accessible colour. The feature runs live as you design and can also be triggered as a full sweep before you hand off to developers.

Figma's State of the Designer 2026 report surveyed thousands of working designers worldwide and found that 91% say AI tools improve the quality of their output, 89% say they're working faster, and 80% report better collaboration. But the surprise in the data: creative freedom ranked as the single biggest driver of job satisfaction β above salary, tools, or title. Designers with high creative autonomy were 25% more likely to report growing satisfaction, and teams where leadership prioritised design excellence reported twice the morale and faster business growth.

Eurovision has unveiled its first major brand refresh in a decade, designed by Amy Bedford β founder of Sheffield-based solo agency PALS β for the contest's 70th anniversary. The centrepiece is the "Chameleon Heart": a refined version of Eurovision's iconic heart logo built to absorb different cultural palettes, motion styles, and moods across global markets in real time. A new bespoke typeface, Singing Sans, replaces the long-standing Gotham to give the brand a distinct typographic voice, and the full system was delivered with a handpicked team of 20+ freelancers that Amy assembled herself.

New Designers 2026 runs July 1β4 at the Business Design Centre in London, bringing together final-year graduates from across the UK in a single four-day showcase (a change from the previous two-week format). Disciplines span graphic design, illustration, motion, UX, product design, fashion, ceramics, and more. Industry professionals attend specifically to recruit and commission, making it one of the highest-density professional networking events in UK design β and tickets are open to anyone.

A defined counter-movement has solidified across 2026 design, branding, and illustration β creatives are deliberately introducing hand-drawn marks, visible texture, uneven spacing, and "wrong" colours to signal that a human made the work. It's Nice That labels this "Ambient Realism" (raw, diaristic, unfiltered); Creative Bloq calls it "Anti-AI Crafting." Both name the same impulse: as AI defaults to perfect symmetry and hi-polish, audiences increasingly reward intentional imperfection because it carries proof-of-human β and that proof has become a differentiator in itself.
